Quality Assessment of Strippable Coals in New Mexico, Year 2, Phase 2, Fruitland, Menefee, and Crevasse Canyon Formation Coals in the San Juan Basin of Northwestern New Mexico

Drill sites spaced about 2 miles apart along the down-dip edge of strippable coal yielded 181 coal-core samples from 2 Fruitland Formation, 36 Menefee Formation, and 18 Crevasse Canyon Formation locations in the San Juan Basin. Extensive chemical analyses and representative petrographic descriptions characterize the sampled coals and indicate their commercial qualities.
