The briefing report presents the final results of a November 1986 nationwide survey of client satisfaction with the quality of service provided by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and compares the results with a similar survey conducted 2 years earlier. The 1986 survey was made because of concern about SSA service during implementation of the agency's plan--announced in January 1985--to reduce staff by 17,000 full-time equivalent positions through fiscal year 1990. Staff was reduced by about 4,500 full-time equivalent positions between the two surveys.
