Nuclear Waste: DOE (Department of Energy) Should Provide More Information on Monitored Retrievable Storage

The General Accounting Office evaluated the Department of Energy's plans for monitored retrievable storage of spent nuclear fuel. The report addresses issues relating to the need for, costs and benefits of, and viability of potential alternatives to a monitored retrievable storage facility. The report presents findings, conclusions, and recommendations regarding the adequacy of the Department of Energy's analysis of these issues as presented in its monitored retrievable storage proposal.
