Working Environment in Farm Buildings: Results of Studies in Livestock Buildings and Greenhouses

摘要

The purpose of the present thesis was to study and analyze some important factors and relationships regarding occupational accidents, work physiology, working postures and psychosocial matters related to work in livestock buildings and greenhouses. Near accident studies were found to generate valuable information on occupational risks in both livestock buildings and greenhouses. Risky situations were common when handling animals and during transportation jobs in alleys and passages. Studies of the physiological load on greenhouse workers in different climates indicated that ordinary work under normal climate conditions was not a serious problem for healthy persons. Many of the work operations in dairy barns involve lifting, carrying, kneeling and other strenuous working postures. It was concluded that the farm buildings of the future must have a built-in safety system, and that the buildings have to be designed for physical and psychological acceptance by a wider range of people.
