Industry Sector Analysis Mexico: Training Systems and Educational Equipment

The Mexican market for training systems and educational equipment represents an important export opportunity for U.S. manufacturers. Mexican companies are investing in the development of their human resources in an effort to increase their productivity. The Mexican government has increased its efforts in regulating, supervising, promoting and sanctioning all matters related to worker's training. This will increase the demand for educational equipment and training systems, as small and medium sized companies begin to invest in the education of their workers and larger companies purchase more sophisticated equipment. In 1986, the market was estimated to reach approximately $85 million dollars, after increasing at an average annual rate of 7% in the previous two years. This trend is expected to continue through 1990, when total market demand is expected to represent $100 million dollars. The U.S. is the most important supplier of educational equipment to Mexico and enjoys an import market share of approximately 65%.
