The report is a subject index to significant articles, news items, and editorials appearing in 77 English language military and aeronautical periodicals. It originated with 23 titles as a quarterly publication in 1949 and has continued on a quarterly basis superseded by annual cumulations (triennial cumulative issues were published from 1952 through 1967). Staff members of Air University Library index all of the periodicals with the exception of five titles which are indexed by other Air Force, Army, and Navy libraries. The Air University Library Index to Military Periodicals serves primarily the educational and research programs of Air University; it is available to other libraries upon request.
