VISTRAFS: A Simulation Method for Strongly-Interacting Viscous Transonic Flow

A description is given of the program system VISTRAFS, which simulates 2-D transonic viscous flow with strong viscous-inviscid interaction. VISTRAFS consists of two parts: the viscous-flow solver VISIAN and the inviscid-flow solver TRAFS. These solvers are coupled in a quasi-simultaneous way. A number of examples are presented which show that the VISTRAFS results are comparable to those of present-day Navier-Stokes solvers: however, they are obtained with much less computational effort.
