Most polymers in practical applications have either glass transition points distant from room temperature, or in room temperature range but with small property changes across it. The study has been concerned with obtaining glass transition points in the room temperature range and realizing large differences in properties (elastic modulus in the present case) above and below the point. The paper describes polyurethanes chosen for this purpose and their molecular design to control the glass transition point and elasticity changes across temperatures. Materials have been obtained which have glass transition points between -30 C and 30 C and a maximum relative change in elastic modulus ratio of 180.
