摘要

The ERATO Program was initiated in 1981 by the Science and Technology Agency of Japan. The overall purpose is 'to foster the creation of advanced technologies and advancing future interdisciplinary scientific activities while searching for a better system of basic research'. At the time of the analysis, a total of 15 ERATO projects had been funded. Some of these ten involve: Properties and possible applications of ultra-fine particles; synthesis techniques for amorphous and intercalation compounds and their possible industrial applications; synthesis and applications of new fine polymers; growth of perfect silicon and gallium arsenide crystals and the application of these materials to static induction control technologies; exploration of nanometer measurements and control techniques and their application in x-ray microscopy.
