After the Pace: A Summary of Alternatives Research Under the Luevano Consent Decree.

This report summarizes the research program carried out by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to support the development of alternative selection procedures under the Luevano consent decree. Seven selection procedures were developed for seven occupations which hired 60% of all those hired into PACE occupations over a five year period. The author describes the development and use of these selection procedures and he summarizes the evidence relating to their validity and impact on a minority group. All of the seven procedures except one possessed some validity and generally the validity was exceptionally high.
