Phase I Job Analysis of the Scientific Aid/Technician Occupations.

A job analysis survey of 760 job incumbents at the GS-2, 3, and 4 grade levels from six Federal agencies representing 21 scientific aid/technician occupations was conducted to provide job-related data to verify the validity of the written test components of the current scientific aid/technician examination. Results are reported about the job incumbents' background, the percentage of incumbents performing each job activity, the time spent by the incumbents performing each activity, and the importance of each activity to successful job performance. These results will provide the foundation for the identification of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful performance in these occupations.
