World Bank's Lending for Adjustment: An Interim Report

摘要

The paper reviews recent trends in adjustment lending, especially in the design, monitoring and institutional aspects of adjustment loans, and such evidence as is available on the impact of adjustment lending on economic performance and on the poor. The paper does not attempt a comprehensive assessment nor a full exploration of the many important issues concerning adjustment lending. The Bank has learnt a great deal in recent years in its experience with adjustment programs. There remain, however, many difficult questions on which further study is required. The Bank is undertaking a program of analysis and policy studies on adjustment issues, the results of which we hope to publish later this year. (Copyright (c) 1988 The World Bank.)
