It details a rigorous monitoring program designed to maximize the ability to detect changes in key hydrological, physical, and chemical parameters that are related to the potential effects of acidification on stream resources. The primary objectives of the field activities described in the manual are to ensure consistency in sample and data collection, to maintain sample integrity in the field, and to provide and maintain a high degree of quality control and quality assurance.
