The theme for the year's conference is 'Quality and Productivity Through Integration'. CALS EXPO '88 provides us with an opportunity to (1) review progress and goals of both DOD and Industry, (2) present papers describing state-of-the-art technology and future expectations, and (3) provide demonstrations that show how integration of the technologies satisfy the CALS initiative. Senior representatives from DOD and Industry have been invited to make the presentations. Demonstrations of CALS technologies play a key role in the year's conference. Exchanges of data between organizations illustrate the synergistic benefits derived from integrating these automated technologies.
