Knowledge-Based Protocols for Distributed Systems with Transient Channel Failures

摘要

The knowledge in a distributed system propagates from one processor to other processors due to message transactions. A processor with knowledge-based protocol sends messages according to its state of knowledge on some definite goal of the system. In the paper the author has presented two protocols for different models of distributed systems with transient channel failures. The protocol P is designed for a system with shared channel buffer whereas the protocol P is meant for a completely loosely coupled system. The author has also shown that both the protocols are terminating and can achieve eventual common knowledge on their respective models of systems.
