The common denominator shared by virtually all of the inhabitants of Schellengers Landing Island, property and business owners alike, as well as the visitors to the area, is a dependence on the economic and recreational opportunities created by the waterfront and the adjacent waterways. Therefore, it is natural for a community that depends on its waterfront and adjacent waterways for economic viability to plan ways to protect its waterfront resources while utilizing their assets to the highest advantage.
