Trematodes, Their Life Cycles, Biology and Evolution

摘要

The book describes the hermaphroditic and parthenogenetic generations of trematodes and all stages of their development. Special attention has been paid to the morpho-physiological mechanisms which ensure penetration of larvae in the host body and biological adaptations of larvae for searching for animal hosts. The metabolism of trematodes in different stages of their development and its dependence on ecological conditions is examined in detail. A special section has been devoted to elaborating the ecologoparasitological characteristics of trematodes. The second part deals with the problems of their complex life cycles. It emphasizes the main direction of evolution and describes the hypothesis about the establishment of the life cycle during phylogeny.
