Color Printing for Computer Graphics. OR: How to Get It Off Your Screen and Onto Paper, in Color

Members of the computer graphics community are expert at producing high quality images on monitors. Rarely, however, are they satisfied with the results of reproducing these images on paper. Part of the dissatisfaction is inevitable as some aspects of images rendered on monitors can never be reproduced on paper. However, part of the problem is simply ignorance, and knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of printing systems can be used to produce better results. The paper explains why transferring a monitor image to a printed page is difficult and presents some techniques that can be used to improve the results. (Copyright (c) 1987, 1988, Xerox Corporation).
