Business Retention Strategies

摘要

The numerous innovative programs aimed at retaining businesses in areas of lagging growth are examined in the report which resulted from a workshop conducted in Austin, Texas. A 'proactive' program which anticipates the problems of businesses is recommended along with another which established Government Outreach Procurement and Bid Resource Centers. Austin's Business Expansion and Retention and Enterprise Zone Programs are discussed for their potential value to communities experiencing a loss of firms. Finally, assistance available through the Technology Business Development Division of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station is reviewed.
