Papers were presented from a joint United States and Finnish symposium on occupational health and safety. Topics included the following: epidemiology of occupational cancer in Finland and a Swedish cancer risk identification program; studies of physical and psychological workload, including age related topics; exposure assessment studies of chemicals, electric and electromagnetic fields, mineral fibers, and fungal spores; studies related to allergies due to occupational exposures including microorganisms and endotoxin, laboratory animals, sulfur-dioxide (7446095), and contact allergens in colophony; occupational injuries with respect to statistics, accident prevention, cost, and ergonomics; and implementation of preventive strategies. General topic papers included leading work related diseases and injuries, a national overview of occupational health services in Finland, and the physical demands of worklife.
