Design and Feasibility Analysis for a Wood Products Industrial Park

The report presents an innovative design for a vertically integrated hardwood products industrial park, with secondary wood products enterprises centered around a primary manufacturing system composed of a sawmill, dry kiln, and lumber warehouse. The design includes a development corporation which would handle physical development of the industrial park, operate the sawmill, dry kiln and warehouse, provide managerial and business services, and market the member industries' products. Secondary manufacturers would be independently owned and operated, but would contract with the development company for industrial space, wood raw materials, and marketing and management services. The integrated design for manufacturing, marketing, and management is seen as a promising means of fostering successful wood products production centers in less developed and economically distressed regions.
