The report presents an administrative history of Effigy Mounds National Monument. The Monument, located in Iowa along the Mississippi River, is made up of effigy mounds formed into an extensive procession of bears accompanied by a scattering of birds. The report covers the following areas: First inhabitants; National Park Movement; Authorization, acquisition and staffing of the National Monument; Resources management and research; and Interpretive programs.
