Surface Velocity in the Equatorial Oceans (20N-20S) Calculated from Historical Ship Drifts

Ship drift velocity observations were used to calculate and plot monthly mean and yearly mean velocities in 2 deg latitude by 5 deg longitude boxes for the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. The vector maps shown here provide a visualization of the mean and seasonally varying currents.
