Analysis of Factors Impacting Technology Transfer in Construction Projects: Case Studies from Developing Countries

The construction industry in most developing countries is weak, and consequently cannot cope with the complex and rapid expansion of building and construction projects within its environment. On the other hand, developing countries depend to a large extent on the construction industry for development and industrialization. Although the construction sector in less developed countries has been ranked among the top four out of twenty economic sectors in terms of inter-sectoral linkages, still few pay attention to inputs required to realize outputs expected in the development plans. The overall aim of the report is to examine the nature of the technology transfer process in the international construction projects. Secondly, the aim is to analyze the relationships between project delivery systems, project management teams and technology transfer programs. Thirdly, the aim is to examine the influence of technology transfer programs, project delivery systems and project management teams on project performance. The purpose is to present a model based on a systems approach which attempts to show both quantitative and qualitative relationships between different variables and factors which influence the process of delivering international construction projects.
