摘要

A study of the Columbia Plateau regional aquifer system was begun in 1982 as one of 28 studies by the U.S. Geological Survey under the Regional Aquifer-System Analysis (RASA) program. This RASA project was designed to aid in the effective management of the ground-water resources of the plateau by providing information on the geohydrology and geochemistry of the aquifer system. The objective of the report was to describe the water-quality characteristics of the basalt part of the Columbia Plateau aquifer system based on data collected from 1982 to 1985. The report presents and discusses the distribution of selected chemical and physical characteristics relative to the regional geohydrologic system, geochemical processes, and land use.
