Federal R and D Funding by Budget Function. Fiscal Years 1988-90

The report provides a distribution of Federal Research and Development (R&D) programs based on the functions of the Federal budget. Analysis focuses on relative changes in Federal funding from 1988-90 in chief R&D program areas within each function. About 500 programs are identified with the corresponding budget authority for fiscal years 1988, 1989, and 1990. The report provides an agency/function crosswalk that enables the reader to identify agency distribution of R&D support in the functional categories of the budget. Historical tables include Federal R&D funding by budget function for 1955-90.
