摘要

A reconnaissance survey was conducted by National Park Service personnel to assist the 1606 Air Base Wing with meeting compliance regulations for cultural resources. Survey was conducted on eight military training drop zones: Abeytas, Burris Ranch, and Becker in Socorro County, Church Rock on Fort Wingate Army Depot in McKinley County, Horizon in Valencia County, and Gates Circular and Kings 249 and 304 in Santa Fe County. Scattered cultural remains were found in the Abeytas DZ, and one small and disturbed lithic and sherd scatter and petroglyph site (LA-73321) was recorded in the Church Rock DZ. It is recommended that: (1) none of the cultural remains found merit consideration for the National Register of Historic Places, (2) no further survey efforts are warranted, and (3) the areas be cleared for training activities.
