Grisningsfoerlopp och Moder-Avkomma-Samspel i Olika Inhysningssystem (Observations at Farrowing and Mother-Offspring Interactions in Different Housing Systems)

摘要

The investigations presented consist of studies of the course of farrowing and the relationship between mother and offspring in different types of conventional farrowing accommodations. The aim has been to obtain general information about the farrowing process in order to develop biologically adapted husbandry routines, and to carry out comparative studies of standard types of farrowing environments, where the sow is either maintained loose or fixed at farrowing. A total of 48 Swedish Landrace sow farrowings in 6 different types of farrowing accommodations were investigated. The studies began approximately 1 day before expected farrowing, and the sow and her offspring were continuously observed until 3 days after.
