Leaching of Heavy Metals from Thermally Decontaminated Soils

The report describes a research orientated at the effects on the environment due to the application of thermally decontaminated soils. Soil samples were taken from three thermally decontaminating plants. The composition of the soil, metal concentrations and buffer capacity were determined to characterize the soils. The metal concentrations were compared with tentative reference values for unpolluted soils, which they did not meet fully. The leaching behavior was investigated using a tentative standard leaching test. The main conclusion of the investigation is, that all three soils can be applied without any restrictions, according to the present views. It was found that, the soil with the lowest metal concentration gave the highest leaching percentage.
