Female Participation in the Labor Force of the Nonmetropolitan Towns of Upstate New York, 1960-1980

The study uses data from the 1960, 1970, and 1980 censuses of population and housing to investigate the nature of women's entry into the paid labor force. In contrast to most previous efforts, focus is placed on nonmetropolitan settings. Seven hundred and six nonmetropolitan towns of upstate New York provide observational units to monitor changes in female participation in the labor force and their correlates over the 20 year period.
