The conference was held at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 10-13. The purpose of the conference was to examine the state of technology for the disposal of hazardous waste. Emphasis was placed on the presentation of papers that summarized important new technological developments and concepts with broad international applications. Sessions were held in the areas of: thermal destruction, physical/chemical treatment, biological treatment, land disposal, solidification/stabilization, and waste minimization.
