Emergency Medical Services for Children in Rural and Urban Settings

This project worked with a variety of local organizations in order to collect and analyze data on pediatric emergency medical services systems in California. An injury severity index which can be used to predict outcomes and to determine how specialized care would affect outcomes was developed, and the cost of Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) care was calculated. These data were used as the basis for proposing a rural EMSC system for communities with a variety of EMSC resources.
