Summary of the Review of the Literature on Work and Family in the United States from Preindustrial Society to Contemporary Society

摘要

The literature review shows that work and family are not static. In less than a century American workers have shifted from an agricultural base to an industrial base to an information processing and service base. It also shows that employers have not always given careful consideration to the interface of the workplace and the home. The recommendations were made for Pennsylvania to help strengthen families who work are broad enough to be applied to any state. A bibliography is included.
