The Dubose Oil Products National Priorities List Site is located in Cantonment, Florida. The site consists of a process facility located on the southern side and three bermed ponds located on the northern side of the site. The site was an oil recovery facility which operated from early 1979 through November 1981. A number of waste materials have been handled on the site including waste oils, petroleum refining waste, wood treatment process waste, spent solvent, spent 'pickle liquors', and various paint wastes. The contaminants of concern at Dubose Oil Products Site consist of iron, aluminum, manganese, 1,1-dichloroethene in groundwater and iron in surface water. The site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the possibility of exposure to hazardous substances at concentrations that may result in adverse health effects. Human exposure to 1,1-dichloroethene and iron may occur through ingestion of contaminated groundwater.
