The Liberty Industrial Finishing (LIF) Site, located in the Town of Farmingdale, Nassau County, New York is on the National Priorities List. LIF operated continuously from 1948 to 1978 with operations including electroplating, dying, and painting. LIF used two groundwater recharge basins as lagoons for discharging treated waste water. The data and historical site operations indicate that cadmium, chromium and cyanide are the major inorganic contaminants. Based on the available information, the site is considered to be of potential public health concern.
