In the first paper, to correlate structure to physical properties, heterophasic PP copolymer (so called block PP) samples were prepared in lab-scale using high yield supported Z-N-catalyst. The structure was studied by FT-IR and (13)C-NMR spectroscopy and by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Heptane soluble fractions were extracted and analyzed separately. Some physical properties were studied and compared with values of some commercial reference samples. The second paper describes a rapid and accurate test for determining rubber composition. One way is to determine ethylene content by (13)C NMR-spectroscopy, but this method requires several hours to get good spectra. The infrared spectroscopy is a more powerful method because it is fast and easy to use. One disadvantage of FT-IR is that it does not provide composition directly. On the other hand, (13)C NMR-spectroscopy allows the determination of microstructure of EP rubbers.
