The manual is Volume 4 of the AEDRM, the Alcohol-Related Morbidity section, which provides compilations of data on diagnoses associated with chronic alcohol use among patients discharged from non-Federal, short-stay hospitals in the United States. The data have been extracted from the National Hospital Discharge Survey (NHDS) conducted on an ongoing basis by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
