摘要

A theoretical description of shear distortion is made in the framework of research into the shear effect of trapezoidally formed sheet-metal plates. Restriction of bending distortion by the clamping effect of mechanical means of fastening is a practical, constituent part of the project. A theoretical model is described for the last-named aspect and it has been experimentally tested. The results of the research show that the theory amply satisfies practical requirements. The degree of bending distortion can be considerably influenced by the contactpressure and clamping-force system round the fastenings. For a broad flange the effect is generally greater and easier to forecast than for a narrow one.
