Family Incomes of Unemployment Insurance Recipients and the Implications for Extending Benefits: A CBO Study

The Congressional Budget Office's study provides detailed information on two main topics: the sources and amounts of family income of long-term unemployment insurance (UI) recipients (defined in the study as individuals who received UI benefits for at least four consecutive months) while collecting UI benefits; and the incomes of these recipients and their families after their receipt of UI benefits ended, especially of those who did not return to work.
