Twistlocks

摘要

The investigation shows that there are great problems especially in the ports during loading and discharge of containers. The problems are to a large extent due to the fact that securing equipment is of several different types. The largest problem is the twistlocks, where a large number of different varieties are used. A standardization of these twistlocks is of great importance to avoid some of the problems. This standardization must be carried out within the ISO in order to get the necessary international impact. Standardization should comprise both performance, design, construction, and strength. Further, there is a need of standardization of all components used for securing of containers at sea and also instructions for how the securing is to be done.
