Archaeological Survey of a Proposed Boat Ramp Site on Lake Wisconsin in Columbia County, Wisconsin.

In April, 1990, Philip H. Salkin conducted an archaeological survey of a proposed boat ramp on Lake Wisconsin in Columbia County, Wisconsin. In the course of the survey, the project area was subjected to pedestrian survey and the excavation of 32 shovel test units and some shovel probes. Much of the project area may be described as low and poorly drained or highly disturbed. No prehistoric materials were recovered and historic finds were limited to surface finds of recent age. No additional research is recommended for the project area as no sites which might qualify for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places will be impacted by the proposed construction.
