Reduction in the Speed Limit from 110 km/h to 90 km/h during Summer 1989: Effects on Personal Injury Accidents, Injured and Speeds

On behalf of the Road Safety Office the Institute has analyzed the effect of the reduced speed limit during summer 1989. The traffic safety situation on rural roads during summer 1989 improved in relation to the corresponding period in 1988. As expected, the improvement was greatest on those roads where the speed limit was reduced from 110 km/h to 90 km/h, particularly on motorways.
