The directory provides information on the most important European laboratories performing research on condensed matter and materials using mainly high-field magnets, high-flux neutron sources and synchrotron radiation sources. It is intended to provide researchers with information on specialized or unique facilities in Europe that could be useful in their research work. The basic information for each laboratory includes a description of special or unique instrumentation; typical experiments, calculations, or data searches suited to the facility; a description of modes for carrying out research, including requirements for access, funding requirements and scheduling policies; and the name, title, address, and telephone number of a person to contact for further information.
