Effect of Negative Poisson's Ratio on the Fracture Behavior of Composite Laminates

Fracture behavior of laminates with inplane negative Poisson's ratio were investigated experimentally and theoretically. The fracture coughness of these laminates was found to be higher as compared to the fracture toughness of balanced laminates. Improved fracture behavior of these laminates are believed to be due to the inplane negative Poisson's ratio.
