The booklet contains the specifications and instructions for reporting Form W-2and Form W-2P Copy A information to the Social Security Administration (SSA) on magnetic media. SSA accepts W-2 Copy A reports on magnetic tape, 3480 cartridges, and 8 inch, 5 1/4 inch and 3 1/2 inch diskettes. SSA accepts W-2P Copy A reports on magnetic tape and 3480 cartridges only. There is a separate format for each type of magnetic media reporting. The requirements shown in the booklet apply to all United States (stateside) employers and payers filing annual W-2 or W-2P reports with SSA.
