Deriving Human Dose-Response Relations: An Expert Judgement-Based Protocol

National environmental policies are concerned with external safety. A part of the external safety policy deals with the consequences of human exposure to chemical substances as a result of major calamities. These consequences are expressed by dose-response relations. The Dutch national authorities use a special type of dose-response relations for external safety purposes, the probit relation. An expert judgment-based protocol is developed by which every toxic chemical can be evaluated and its probit equation determined. For processing the opinions of the experts, the Classical Model is used. The model calibrates experts on seed variables and bases the impact of an expert on ones performance on these seed variables. The impact is related to the unknown variables of interest.
