Long-Term Outlook for the Electronics Industry

First written in 1989 by the Japanese Electronic Industry Development Association(JEIDA), this translated version discusses the current status and future outlook for globalization in the Japanese electronics industry, the forecast of demand for electronics, and the future outlook for electronics technology. Changes in the environment, industrial structure and characteristics of the electronics industry are also discussed. A summary of the demand forecast for both the world market and for Japan are presented. The future outlook includes profiles of the following technologies: electronic components and materials, measuring technologies, computer network software, production systems, office systems, home systems, communications and transport systems, and energy equipment.
