Role of Scent Glands in Pollination

摘要

The monograph contains the first approach to floral odor analysis using thin layer chromatography. Another important idea expressed here and since supported is that the warmth generated by the flowering spikes of Araceae is metabolically connected with scent production. The work contains a wealth of facts (240 plant taxa are mentioned), illustrations of floral morphology and anatomy, a literature review including numerous references usually overlooked, and the author's ingenious use of methods.
