The report analyzes May 1988 Current Population Survey employee benefitssupplement data on private-sector pension participation and vesting at current and prior jobs, the receipt and use of preretirement lump-sum distributions from prior-job retirement plans, and tenure at current job. The study provides detailed analyses of lump-sum eligibility, receipt, and use, among workers in 1988, and offers background information on one source of potential retirement income losses due to job change.
