The increased use of CAD/CAM techniques in respirator design imposes larger demands on three-dimensional facial information of potential respirator wearers. In order to meet those requirements a new anthropometric measuring system based on a video imaging technique has been designed. The system is portable and allows for accurate reproducible measurements. It can rapidly collect facial anthropometric data and the operation is easy. The principles and the operation of the new measuring system is described.
